Title: Kayak Pittsburgh Site Supervisor (3 Available Positions)
Locations: Downtown Pittsburgh: May 1-Oct 31, 2010 OR Lake Elizabeth (Allegheny Commons): Memorial Day-Labor Day
Hours: Full & Part Time available: 25-40 hours/week
Salary: Starting salary: $10.00/hour

Overview:
The Kayak Pittsburgh Site Supervisor is responsible for the ongoing management of Venture Outdoors’ kayak and canoe rental concessions in Pittsburgh. This position manages the coordination, evaluation and success of all rental activities, ensuring that the concessions provide an excellent experience for all customers and continues to be a noteworthy addition to the Pittsburgh community. Working in cooperation with other Venture Outdoors staff, the Site Supervisor fulfills Kayak Pittsburgh’s goals and objectives as part of Venture Outdoors' overall mission of promoting outdoor recreation.

Responsibilities
• Manage the day to day operations of the kayak concession and its staff
• Work 3-4 consecutive days from opening to close
• Supervise staff
• Promptly answer and return all customer phone calls
• Ensure that all concession equipment is maintained and in good working order
• Ensure opening and closing responsibilities are completed daily
• Evaluate and plan for changes in equipment needs at the facility
• Ensure that all staff are trained in and able to adhere to Venture Outdoors’ policies
Assist with other Venture Outdoors’ activities, including but not limited to regularly scheduled programs
• Evaluate concession activities and prepare report summaries
• Attend weekly meetings with supervisors
• Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent real-world experience
• CPR and First Aid certification desired
• Strong experience in risk management
• Strong administrative and organizational skills
• Ability to work creatively and constructively with staff to create a team environment
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• High degree of motivation and initiative
• Demonstrated commitment to outdoor recreation
• Willingness and commitment to uphold all Venture Outdoors’ policies and protocols

Requirements
• Minimum two years' experience in a management/supervisory position
• Strong management skills
• Strong kayak/canoe paddling skills
• Reliable transportation to and from work site
• Good physical condition. Must be able to REPEATEDLY lift 50 pounds over your head
• Must be available for weekend and evening hours
