Central Ohio Advocacy Coordinator, Universal Health Care Action Network of Ohio - Columbus, OH

UHCAN Ohio (Universal Health Care Action Network of Ohio) is a statewide, nonprofit organization working for high quality, affordable health care for all Ohioans by building strong consumer advocacy. We are looking for a person with experience in coalition building, leadership development and grassroots organizing who can build the Central Ohio network of the Ohio Consumers for Health Coverage and work on other health advocacy campaigns as needed.

Qualifications:
• 2 or more years experience coordinating coalitions or working groups seeking to impact public policy; experience with health policy, health care issues and the health care delivery system is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to write clearly and effectively for a wide range of audiences, to speak before groups and with legislators, members of the press and the public;
• Outstanding organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage various complex projects simultaneously;
• Ability to interact effectively with a broad range of people;
• Some knowledge of the health care system gathered from working in it, studying it, or organizing people around the need for health care
• Strong leadership, collaborative and team building skills;
• Proficiency in the use of word processing, Internet and e-mail communications.
• Commitment to social justice in general and universal health care coverage in particular;
• Daily access to reliable automotive transportation and a valid driver’s license to make frequent trips within Central Ohio
• BA or BS degree or equivalent.
• Bilingual language skills a plus.
