Foundation Relations and Grants Manager
Position Objective
Entering into its 41st season, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, (PBT) is one of the nation’s leading ballet companies and one of the top ten cultural organizations in Western Pennsylvania. PBT is looking for a qualified Foundation Relations and Grants Manager to join our dynamic team during an exciting period for this $7.5 million cultural organization.
The Foundation Relations and Grants Manager will be primarily focused on writing grants for local, regional, statewide, national, and governmental organizations as well as corporate and private foundations. There will be some focus on engaging corporate partnerships ranging from $5,000 to $1M. This person will maintain relationships with external grant managers and program officers of funding bodies and will also coordinate the implementation of grant awards and ensure post-award compliance. This position will compile financial and non-financial data for the preparation of internal and external reports, compliance reports and grant billings.
Accountability
The Foundation Relations and Grants Manager will report to the Director of Development.
Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate grants submissions and increased revenue for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre through the development and effective operations of grant projects by managing project tasks related to the conception, writing, submission, administration, and stewardship of grants and awards.
- Increase new grant initiatives by 20% for 2010/2011 fiscal year.
- Oversees the research on potential funding resources; collects and disseminates where appropriate information relative to available grants, including eligibility requirements. Restrictions, priorities, and deadlines.
- The Foundation Relations and Grants Manager will ensure that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful foundation and grant partnerships, and will be expected to develop new relationships with foundation/organizational prospects with a special emphasis on developing a high value-exchange of corporate alliances.
- Responsible for managing existing grants by; keeping projects on track, developing internal reporting systems, writing reports, maintaining excellent historical records, and completing key program tasks in a timely manner; coordinates collection, entry, and analysis of data
- Prepares technical and financial reports pertaining to each grant.
- Develop and prioritize projects and proposals; effectively work with PBT staff members to elicit or collaborate on projects and programs that need support; when necessary manage monthly meetings to vet projects and programs and assist in setting priorities for funding requests.
- Function with a high-level of detail to provide excellent service to prospects, donors, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) leadership and the board of trustees.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary by the Director of Development as they arise.
Qualifications
- B.A., B.S., Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Arts Administration
- 3 – 5 years in a non-profit fundraising setting with demonstrated success in grants writing and corporate proposals
- Experience in the non-profit arts preferred, but not necessary
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with both the internal and external constituents.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team player.
Other Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others
- Excellent communication skills both orally and written
- Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for grant funding
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of the performing arts, especially dance
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Tessitura.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements include lifting of boxes and materials (20 lb limit), writing, typing, talking on the phone, walking, standing and sitting.
Equipment Operation Requirements
Operation requirements include the ability to drive an automobile, work on a computer, and operate and speak on a telephone.
