Operations Manager, The Midwife Center for Birth and Women’s Health - Pittsburgh, PA

The Midwife Center for Birth & Women’s Health, a nonprofit, licensed birth center, has an immediate opening for an Operations Manager. This position reports to the Executive Director and oversees the finances, administration, and infrastructure of the organization while carryout out the goals and philosophy of The Midwife Center.

The mission of The Midwife Center is to provide exceptional woman-centered pregnancy, birth, and well-woman care in an independent birth center in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Since 1982, The Midwife Center has welcomed nearly 4,000 into the world. The Midwife Center reincorporated as a nonprofit practice in 2000 in order to be able to serve more women without adequate insurance.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience with financial, administrative and computer operations.
  • Extensive computer skills including: software application, pc hardware troubleshooting, assessment and software upgrading.
  • Experience with accounting, business and computers operations.
  • Management/supervisory experience.
  • BA in business, non-profit management, or related field or BA with comparable work or volunteer experience. MA in similar fields a plus.
  • Experience working in a health care setting a plus.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting in the negotiations and relations with third party payers.
  • Maintaining and overseeing the bookkeeping, accounts payable/accounts receivable, insurance billing and the Center’s insurance policies.
  • Preparing monthly profit and loss, cash flow, budget to actual and other financial reports, as needed and directed by the Executive Director or board treasurer.
  • Management of administrative staff, operations, and personnel records.
  • Overseeing and implementing changes as necessary to center computer functions.
  • Supervising facility issues including maintaining files for licensure and accreditation, housekeeping and general building maintenance.
